Savoirs d’Afrique was founded in June 18th 2004. It is a registered association regulated by the French Law of 1901. The idea behind it is that the Pygmies are at the origin of humanity and yet they are not invited to join the Concert of Cultures. Our aim is to be the spokemen of the Pygmies from Gabon, to pass on their knowledge and to be the voice of this “First People” through our actions.
We make their Technic and Art live in our farm, “Les Brousses”(1). It is based in a little village called Lhommaizé (86410) in the region of Poitou Charentes. The farm is open to the public and everyone is welcome to come and visit.
(1) Translator note: The name of the place “Les Brousses” means “The Bush”, well spread in Gabon. It is as if it had been expecting Savoirs d’Afrique to move in!
